Porto 2024 “Connecting People”

Since time immemorial, interpersonal and community relationships have been strengthened through music. It is a way of bringing people together. It stimulates individual and collective creativity. It establishes ways of working and cultural standards.
Music is an echo of the vital and gregarious essence of what it is to be human. Naturally, the teaching of stringed instruments contains this energy of growth based on the relationship with others.
In the times we live in, it is essential not to lose sight of the importance that our teaching has in promoting interpersonal relationships and human development. More than the historical representation of diverse cultures, we are a community where it is important to promote artistic expression through learning and practicing a musical instrument. A meeting place where each voice has its space.
In the year that ESTA Portugal celebrates its 10th anniversary, with the PORTO 2024 Conference we want to highlight what connects us as teachers, with our students, and as representatives of different educational and cultural communities.
The various practices, teaching strategies, contents, interpersonal and social relationships, must be the object of sharing and questioning. This reflection will help to fill our profession with meaning at a defining moment for humanity in which we face challenges on a planetary scale. In “Connecting People” we intend to strengthen connections and tread paths in music teaching that bring us closer to a better world.

Desde tempos imemoriais que as relações interpessoais e comunitárias são reforçadas através da música. É uma forma de estar com o outro. Estimula a criatividade individual e coletiva.
Estabelece formas de trabalho e padrões culturais. A música é um eco da essência vital e gregária do que é ser humano.
Naturalmente, o ensino de instrumentos de cordas encerra em si esta energia de crescimento alicerçada na relação com os outros.
Nos tempos em que vivemos é fundamental não perder de vista a importância que o nosso ensino tem na promoção da relação interpessoal e no desenvolvimento humano. Mais do que a representação histórica de diversas culturalidades, somos uma
comunidade onde interessa promover a expressão artística através
da aprendizagem e prática de um instrumento musical. Um lugar de
encontro onde cada voz tem o seu espaço.
No ano em que a ESTA Portugal celebra o seu 10 aniversário, queremos com a Conferência PORTO 2024 fazer realçar o que nos liga enquanto professores, com os nossos alunos e enquanto representantes de diferentes comunidades educativas e culturais.
As diversas práticas, estratégias de ensino, conteúdos, relações
interpessoais e sociais, devem ser objeto de partilha e questionamento. Esta reflexão ajudará a preencher de significado a nossa profissão num momento determinante da humanidade em que se nos apresentam desafios à escala planetária. Em “Connecting People” pretendemos fortalecer ligações e trilhar caminhos no ensino da música que nos aproximem de um mundo melhor.
